Book Review : My not so perfect life
This is my 3rd Sophie Kinsella book after Confession of a Shopaholic and Remember me.
Remember me I remember was pretty good ;) (pun intented)
So My not so perfect life is a story of a 26 year old having
a mind of 16 year old until she is fired!
Katie is obsessed with London and the obsession is unhealthy
to an extent where she has to change her name to fit in, changes her accent and
hides from people about her back ground all because of the fear of being
judged! She tires to make cool (rich) friends and then when she goes out with
those friends to expensive places she doesn’t even have money to buy her own food. I mean what is
the point of pretending so much where you get into a situation where people
mistake you as a begger?
Instead of performing well in the office all she wants is to
be cool and fit in so she withholds her opinions and then complains when she
gets fired!
After being fired her life changes and she helps her parents
build a business from scratch “A Holiday home”. This is when her boss “Demeter”
who fired her comes for a vacation and Katie again tries to take revenge. But
this time her boss becomes a bigger person and explains Katie everything that
happened, How it happened and what mess she is in!
This is when Katie realizes that her boss is actually a good
person and then she helps uncover the conspiracy going on against her behind
her back!
And after that Katie's boss Demeter realises what a treasure of talent Katie is and she was not supposed to be fired. Now eventually at the end of the book every character is in the stage of realising something!
Okay one more dumb thing, this book was published in 2017
and in “2017” Demeter is bad with even the basics of internet. Like who doesn’t know how to use an E-mail in
2017? And she is the HEAD of the whole Branding business! No doubt people were
after her!
So after helping a boss and uncovering the conspiracy Katie realizes
that her life need not be perfect! Finally girl you relaised it after going
through hell and being fired? Way to go!
I really liked Sophie’s Remember Me I expected more from
this book but still I would give a 3/5 stars.
