Book Summary : Business Stories by Aslam Charania

This book is a collection of stories of Surats highly successful entrepreneurs. It contains 16 stories of local business firms who made it to the top and are pioneer in their fields.
There are many inspiring stories to motivate and inspire young entrepreneurs. The book discusses struggles, achievement, mistakes and learning of the initial years of these millionaires with the special message by these millionaires themselves.
So I will just give you a brief plot summary of the stories I found unique and inspiring.
Shree Ramkrishna Pvt Ltd.
  • Owner Govind Dholakiya comes from a very small village named Dudhala and now owns a business having turnover more than 6000 crores and with strong hold in international diamond market.
  • His strong belief is in adopting new technology and adopting to the changing environment as soon as possible.
  • Treat your employees well and reward them and give them all the facilities possible.
  • He takes his business decision based on opportunity cost and Return of investment concept.
NJ Investments
  • Tapped the mutual funds market when it was totally new in India.
  • Put emphasis on extensive studying and researching of market and schems related to it.
  • Did not give up even after thrashning of the mutual funds image due to Harshad Mehta scam.
Laxmipati Sarees.
  • Emphasis on valuing Human Resources.
  • First to introduce catalogue concept in Surat Textile Industry.
  • Pioneer of using International machines and designs.
  • Teach us to learn from the mistakes of other.
Magicrete
  • They tried to capture the market of AAC block wich was yet to become popular in our nation.
  • The owner Mr Saurabh Bansal is an IIT Graduate and his brother is also IIT, IIM Graduate.
  • They give education and knowledge immense importance.
F-Studio.
  • Mr Shubhash Dhawan refused to join fathers textile business and decided to manufacture natural fabrics on his own.
  • Inspired by the import of raw silk from China he was motivated to produce alternative of silk to reduce the burden of Import.
  • They are partners of Aditya Birla group in natural fabrics.
  • Currently there are more than 300 outlets in Surat itself doing more than 250 Crore business.
Sosyo
  • Indias own beverage brand competeing with Coke and pepsi.
  • Abbas Hajooris father started this unit, but it got destroyed in communal riots. Even after the destruction Abbas Hajoori built it up again from the scratch.
  • They promote their product saying that this drink works as antiseptic for killing germs in our body as it contains calcium carbonate and the formula is similar to that on a famous digestive drink ENO.
Thus to sum it up anybody planning to start their own business or are scared of taking any unconventional steps in their existing business can read this book once to get inspired or motivated. J
